Our beautiful ‘rescue dog’ bubba bear will feature allot through-out our pages. But one thing I love to do is ensure that he has good natural shampoo.
Bubba is a Bull mastiff (you can just see him in the picture, he knows what’s going to happen) so very large, and he is an inside dog. So he has weekly baths…….more if he has been out in the bush and creeks.
One of the best DIY shampoos I have found and makes him smell so fresh and clean is the one I am sharing here. It is great for his skin and keeps his fur really shiny.
I use DoTerra oils and you can purchase from the following link or from your own DoTerra representative. But this is one of the best recipes that I have found.
You can use it two ways, either straight as I have in the jug, I was in a rush today, or you can get a pump bottle for really good foam.
You can find a pack of 2 or 3 foaming pumps on Amazon for just a few dollars. But I have linked below the mason Jar pump bottles which I love and have a number for all out handwashing needs as well. I will share more DIY tips in later posts.
DIY Foam Dog Wash Shampoo
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp Dr Bronners, Pure Castile soap
- 1 tbsp 100% pure & natural Fractionated Coconut Oil
- 3 drops Lavender essential oil
- 1 drop Cedarwood essential oil
- 2 drops Peppermint essential oil
- 2 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil
- 12oz BPA-free foaming pump
- Filtered water to fill container
To make:
Add the water to your foaming pump, along with the essential oils. Slowly add the castile soap followed by the Fractionated Coconut Oil. Place the cap on before tipping back and forth to combine. Tip: Don’t shake.
Alternatively:
Mix everything in a jug (as above and use). You do not get any foam, but still washes well.

Another option for the 100% Fractionated Coconut Oil is a product from Amazon. I use either of these two products.
However, this is a cheaper option, I am happy to share equally good quality products, and I have found that this is a really good product that has no artificial ingredients or adulteration of any kind.
